Mole removal is a quick, physician‑performed procedure that safely eliminates raised or pigmented lesions using precise medical techniques. Treatment improves skin smoothness and appearance with minimal downtime, and most patients return to normal activities immediately. Healing typically occurs over 1–2 weeks, with results continuing to refine as the skin settles.
🩺 Universal Pre‑Treatment Guidelines
💊 Avoid Blood Thinners (5–7 Days Prior) Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, Motrin, and other NSAIDs increase bruising risk. If you take prescription anticoagulants (Coumadin, Dabigatran, Apixaban), please notify us.
🚭 Avoid Alcohol & Smoking (48 Hours Prior) Both increase bruising and slow healing.
🌿 Consider Arnica Montana Topical or oral Arnica can reduce bruising for patients prone to it.
🧴 Arrive With Clean Skin No makeup, sunscreen, moisturizer, or oils. We will cleanse again before treatment.
🧊 Optional: Numbing Cream Apply Lidocaine 30 minutes before your appointment. If you don’t have any, we can provide it in‑office at no charge.
💉 Mole Removal — Before Care
Avoid applying makeup, sunscreen, or skincare products directly over the mole on the day of treatment.
If the mole is in a hair‑bearing area, trim the hair beforehand (do not shave over the mole).
Avoid tanning or sun exposure to the area for 1 week before treatment to reduce pigment changes.
If you have a history of keloids or hypertrophic scarring, notify us before treatment.
For facial moles: avoid scheduling facials, waxing, or exfoliating treatments for 3–5 days before your appointment.
🌈 Universal Aftercare Guidelines
✨ Mild Redness or Swelling Is Normal This typically resolves within a few hours.
🙅 Avoid Rubbing or Massaging Treated Areas Unless specifically instructed for your procedure.
🏃 Avoid Exercise & Lying Flat (4–6 Hours) This prevents product migration and reduces swelling.
🍷 Avoid Alcohol for 24 Hours Alcohol increases fluid retention and bruising.
🌿 Continue Arnica if Needed Avoid applying directly to injection sites.
💊 Resume Blood Thinners After 24 Hours Unless otherwise directed by your physician.
🌤️ Mole Removal — After Care
Keep the area clean and dry for 24 hours; after that, wash gently with mild soap and water.
Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly or antibiotic ointment daily until healed (usually 7–10 days).
A small scab will form — do not pick; allow it to fall off naturally.
Avoid makeup on the treated area for 48 hours or until the skin is closed.
Avoid sun exposure to the area for 2 weeks; use SPF 30+ once healed to prevent darkening.
Expect mild redness for several days; pigmentation may take weeks to fully normalize.
If the area becomes increasingly red, warm, or tender, contact us for evaluation.
